are probably the easiest flooring to clean. Unlike carpets, hardwood flooring only needs the minimum maintenance and when looked after can last for decades. Maintenance to clean them never differ among the various types available, however, there are a few finishes which need some extra care when it comes to removing stains.

 

 

The quickest way to clean them is to use a damp mop. However, before you do this, make sure all surface dust from the floor is removed. This can be achieved using a soft broom or vacuum cleaner. Then, just mop, rinse and repeat. It is very important to first remove any grit and dirt from hardwood flooring. As these are the 2 biggest enemies when it comes to scratches or scouring the finish.

cleaner

and water will usually do the job just as good. The hardwood floor has to be also sealed before any water can be used on it. Should there be any worn patches, do not use water, as this will penetrate into the wood and result in warping.

today are now finished using polyurethane. These floors will look glossier, as it acts like a plastic coating over the wood, it is also very hard wearing. Another finish, known as penetrating seals, which are wax or oil finishes which will penetrate wood and protect within.

 

 

Some people go

that extra mile

and finish off the mopping with a polish. When you find your clean hardwood flooring still looks dull, then try buffing them using wax. However, this does take some more elbow grease, however, the end result is well worth the effort.
